Akil Davis is a senior FBI official currently serving as the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, a position he assumed in May 2025. He previously was the Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Field Office, appointed in 2022. Davis began his FBI career in 2005, initially assigned to the Palm Springs Resident Agency, part of the Los Angeles Field Office, where he investigated violent crime, organized crime, and narcotics trafficking. He was also a member of the Los Angeles Field Office SWAT team.
Davis served in Afghanistan in 2008, working with the U.S. Army’s 10th Special Forces Group. In 2011, he was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent and transferred to the Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Returning to Los Angeles in 2014, he managed the Transnational Organized Crime Program. In 2017, he served as the FBI’s acting assistant legal attaché in The Hague, Netherlands. By 2019, he was Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles office, overseeing programs focused on violent crimes, crimes against children, human trafficking, violent gangs, and organized crime.
In 2021, Davis was promoted to section chief in the International Operations Division at FBI Headquarters before moving to the Phoenix Field Office leadership role. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University. Before joining the FBI, he was a police officer with the Scottsdale Police Department in Arizona.
Davis’s experience spans domestic law enforcement, international operations, and leadership roles within the FBI, with significant involvement in complex investigations including violent crime, transnational organized crime, and counterterrorism efforts[1][2][3].
